I took my painting and equipment back home as this week because we’ve started prepping the studio for install.

I managed to finish it this morning and I’m really proud how it’s turned out – especially as I’ve never painted portraiture, it was a really daunting challenge for me. Some of the gold leaf rubbed off when I was brushing away the excess leaf, however rather than touching it up/fixing it I left it as a flawed part of the painting, in line with a Wabi-Sabi approach. I actually quite liked the effect, as if the gold was decaying… Which is a bit of a juxtaposition.
