After getting my glaze test’s back I definitely wasn’t expecting the results that I got…
I thought the iridescent effect was beautiful yet it was almost too metallic, in a way that clashes with the earthenware rather than complement it. I also realised the subtle differences in colour/texture where I had applied a thicker layer of glaze compared to the thinner layer – and want to experiment with this a but more.
So it’s back to glaze recipes!
For Christmas I bought myself a gorgeous macro photography book on the beauty of seeds. A perfect source of inspiration to my project, I thought I could practice painting/drawing the seeds focusing on form and texture which would inspire ideas for my next ceramic pieces. Coincidentally I found a glaze recipe on Pinterest that looked identical to the colour/texture of a group of seeds in the book, so have decided to follow this recipe for my next glaze batch.
In terms of sketches & paintings I thought about how some of these seeds resembled aspects of human/animal natural form – so I experimented with trying to blend these elements…
